Mission and Goals
The Seattle ERIC mission is to improve the health and health care of Veterans by promoting the principles and practice of state-of-the-art epidemiologic research within VA.
Goals
The Seattle ERIC conducts state-of-the-art epidemiologic research on disease and injuries affecting US Veterans. The overall aim is to promote epidemiologic research on the Veteran population and on diseases, injuries, or health behaviors pertinent to Veterans. Our goals are:
- To contribute to knowledge about the frequency and causes of health conditions and their outcomes in Veterans, and of the impact of medical interventions on the consequences of these conditions.
- To develop independent investigators and foster new investigations in the field of epidemiology pertinent to Veterans.
- To serve as a resource within VA for epidemiologic education and information on a broad range of descriptive, disease-specific, and methodological issues.
- To maintain accountability and to develop as an organization through appropriate communication, oversight, and introspection.
- To expand the impact and influence of the Seattle ERIC with the Cooperative Studies Program Epidemiology Centers (CSPECs) program and to enhance its operational efficiency by collaborating with other programs.
