Data Management Team
Dan Morelli, BA, is the Research Data Program Manager at the Seattle ERIC. He has worked in research at the Seattle VA for over a decade. At the Seattle ERIC he helps shape the procedures and practices around data collection and storage, creates data tools for study staff use, and manipulates datasets for use by the study staff, biostatisticians, and investigators. Dan has been part of the Seattle ERIC since April 2017.
Alexandra Fox, MSIS, is a Data Analyst at the Seattle ERIC. She earned her MS in Information Science in 2007 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She joined the Seattle ERIC team in 2012 after working as a Database Analyst with researchers at Duke University. Her current duties include data extraction and manipulation using both SAS and SQL, database design and assisting researchers in identifying and obtaining data necessary to support a variety of ongoing research studies.
Summer Gardner, MSIM, is a Data Analyst at the Seattle ERIC. She joined the ERIC in 2024. She earned her MS in Information Management with a track in Data Science in 2022 from the University of Washington iSchool. Her current duties involve data extraction, manipulation, analysis, and collaboration for the Millennium Cohort Study, as well as other research studies with the Cooperative Studies Program (CSP). Prior to joining the VA, she worked as a disease research and interventional specialist on syphilis surveillance at Seattle & King County Public Health. She has three years of progressive experience, including electronic health record data management, clinical study site investigation, and clinical study laboratory operations.
Elaine Hu, MS, is a Data Analyst at the Seattle ERIC. She joined the Seattle ERIC team in October 2019 after ten years of working with VA data at the Seattle Health Services R&D (HSR&D) Center at VA Puget Sound. Her current duties involve data extraction, manipulation, analysis and collaboration, mainly for the Millennium Cohort Study. Prior to joining VA, she had more than a decade of experience with healthcare service information on both operational and research sides. She earned her MS in Health Policy and Management, concentrated on health finance and health insurance, from Harvard School of Public Health.
Alexander Peterson, MSc, is a Data Analyst at the Seattle ERIC. He earned his Master of Science in Population & Public Health at the University of British Columbia, where he worked as a statistician analyzing surgical outcomes and health-related quality of life. He has been with the Seattle ERIC since August 2018, where he cleans, curates, and analyzes datasets and leads an effort improve transparency, collaboration, and reproducibility in research.
Lexie Schmidt, MPH, is a Data Analyst at the Seattle ERIC. She joined the ERIC in June 2024 and her current duties include data extraction, manipulation, analysis, and collaboration for the PACT Act, the Millennium Cohort Study, and other studies. Lexie earned a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Population Health Research and Analytics from the University of North Dakota, where she previously worked as a research assistant focused on health equity among pregnant populations.
Hazel Scott, MS, is a Data Analyst at the Seattle ERIC. She finds, cleans and analyzes electronic health record data for research studies. She joined the ERIC in 2022 and previously worked as a data analyst at the Seattle Indian Health Board. She has an MS in statistics from the University of Washington and a BA in linguistics from Haverford College.
Tracy Wang, MAS, is a Data Analyst at the Seattle ERIC. She earned her Master of Applied Statistics from Colorado State University in 2014. Her current duties include gathering, curating, and cleaning data; preparing data extracts, reports, and summaries; creating data visualizations; database design; developing data collection and quality assurance tools. Tracy joined the ERIC in April 2021.
